Jet Lag causes extreme fatigue as consequence of long flights. Fatigue symptoms include Fatigue Syndrome and Headache Fatigue.

Jet Lag Fatigue Syndrome

The chronic fatigue syndrome is something that causes people to feel tired and debilitated all the time. It is a condition that can occur irrespective of whether any specific exertion has been done in the past few hours. The problem is such that even after many hours of rest the feeling of being rested does not arise and it becomes a situation where you are tired all the time. Thankfully, there are specific causes that can be identified and be related to this condition and therefore can be treated. If one is feeling tired all the time, it could be because of tension or worry or due to lack of adequate nutrition. Sometimes the causes are less simplistic than the ones mentioned and the cause may relate back to childhood abuse or something more serious. But in most cases, it is a problem of the mind more than that of the body. There is also chronic tiredness that is felt by those who travel long distance a lot due to the career that they may be in.

There are various symptoms that this chronic tiredness can cause. Headache fatigue can be debilitating especially if you are not so used to handling headaches too often. While some of these conditions are more permanent than others, tiredness caused due to jet lag is something that lasts for only a few days before it vanishes. The fact of the matter is that long flights and the change in time zones can cause the body to get confused about whether it is night or day. Given this, there are times that the body needs to make a lot of effort internally to cope up with the new timings or schedules. This causes the body to get very tired.

Fatigue symptoms caused due to travelling over different time zones can include irritability, tiredness and a need to sleep at weird timings. However, this is an accepted state of affairs and people who travel for long distances are expected to be disoriented for some days before they can really be themselves again. People assume that things will come back to normal after a few days.

While some people handle long distance travel far more easily than others, there are others who feel extreme fatigue when they travel long distances. For these people it is essential that they understand the reasons why it occurs and also take certain steps to avoid such a condition the next time so that can have a more fruitful trip abroad.

There are various things that can be adopted to be able to prevent or avoid the symptoms that occur due to long distance travel. Some tips include consuming large quantities of water, regulating sleep patterns, ensuring that you move around in the flight and avoiding alcohol and caffeine. Fatigue syndrome and other related symptoms can be avoided by practicing these tips.
